The Dirty Book Club by Lisi Harrison

The Dirty Book Club by Lisi Harrison

What I Loved: The rules around the book club and watching each character struggle with the acceptance of each one.
How I Felt: I was a little frustrated with M.J. She just seemed to be floundering with what she wanted to for so long, but overall, I enjoyed this book!
To Read or Not To Read: This is a book worth giving a try. It’s not terribly deep or thought provoking, but I enjoyed the story. It really has very little to do with a “Dirty Book” and so much more to do with how each character resolves issues in their lives.

M.J. Stark, our main character, is a magazine editor (her dream job) with the perfect boyfriend living on the other side of the US. She soon doesn’t get the promotion promised by her boss, and agrees to move to Cali with her boyfriend.

Once there, she meets a neighbor, Gloria, who soon moves to Paris and leaves an invitation and a key for M.J.
She accepts the invitation to the DBC, Dirty Book Club and meets three unlikely, but soon-to-be friends. They are given a letter written by the original members (Gloria and her friends) and a book to read.
The journey M.J. begins will help her, and her friends, to better understand themselves and their lives.
