My Thoughts:
What I Loved: This story jumps back and forth in time. I liked how I could appreciate the feelings of the characters in current time because I was able to read about their past experiences.
How I Felt: There is a lot of sadness in this book. Calla has had a rough life. She lost her mom and her step-mother is, what I’m just going to say, is a horrible person. ⠀
To Read Or Not To Read: This is the third book in a series, but does stand on its own. If you like book series’ I would go back and read the previous books and then grab this one, but this one can be read on its own if you want.⠀
What’s This Book About Anyway?
John Smith’s wife has passed away after the birth of their son. She left behind John, their new son, and their daughter, Calla. John remarries Bernice, a very cold, unloving replacement for his wife. Calla has struggled her entire childhood with Bernice and she finally decides to leave and be on her own. She worries about her family if she leaves. What will happen to her brothers?
