My Thoughts:
What I Loved: This is a book that my mom read and was on her bookshelf, which I then read as a child. It holds such a special spot in my heart because it’s a book that my mom and I have both read and loved. I love the story of Margaret moving and trying to fit in.
How I Felt: This book has always made me laugh. Especially as we get further from when this book was published, I love the references that are specific to that time. I also love the parts of the story that are timeless. Children are always going to have a need to fit in and make friends. We all struggle with needing that.
To Read or Not To Read: This is a children’s book, so it is a quick read and I would suggest that everyone read it!
What’s This Book About Anyway?
Margaret has just moved into a new house in a new town, which means new people, surroundings, and hopefully, friends. She finds her new friends in Janie, Gretchen, and Nancy. They form a secret club where they can talk about all the things girls like to whisper about. They all have their own religions, but Margaret doesn’t belong to any one religion. She does however, talk to God in her own way. And her conversations are about everything. This is a story of growing up and finding your own way. It’s funny and heart-warming and perfect.
