My Thoughts:
What I Loved: The simple message is this story was wonderful. Stand tall and be proud of who you are. The beautiful poppy begins to doubt herself and change to find acceptance in a sea of short poppies. It was a relatable story for young children and I loved that.
How I Felt: I loved the simple artwork. It gave time to focus on the story. The illustrations supported the book so well, and my daughter loved it. The focus on being yourself was really important to me. I appreciated the flower withering with her self-doubt. The visual for a child to see what this can do to a person was really impactful!

To Read or Not To Read: This is a great book for any pre-k children all the way to early elementary. It’s perfect to support any lessons on bullying, friendship, acceptance, and being yourself.
What’s This Book About Anyway?
A little seed grows into a beautiful tall poppy. She finds that there are lots of other poppies, but they don’t like that she is tall. They tell her to stay away and she is sad. She begins to wither as her sadness takes over. An unexpected friend helps her to see her own worth.
