The Bad Zamboni by Perry James

Rating: 4 out of 5.

What I Loved:

The bad zamboni isn’t really bad, he’s just got a bit of a chip on his shoulder and I love that it was a little boy who was able to solve the problem.

How I Felt:

This book set the story up well, showing the old zamboni and the new zamboni. I especially liked how the we were given insight into the new zamboni’s hopes and dreams and then his reality as he is purchased by a small ice rink.

To Read or Not To Read:

This would be great for any little figure skaters or hockey players, but it’s also a perfect book for any child. It discusses problem solving, frustration and temper tantrums, and friendship.

Where to Buy This Book:

The Bad Zamboni has always dreamed of resurfacing the ice for a big ice rink, but he is purchased by a small-time rink and is very disappointed. He works for a bit doing his best, but gets frustrated and begins to act up. Refusing to work at times, and working perfectly at others, he wants to be in control of the situation. The manager does not know what to do, but one little boy does. He brings old zamboni back onto the ice showing new zamboni that there is someone who will do the work and be appreciative of it. I was so happy to see that at the end, new zamboni sees old zamboni as something with feelings and they become friends. It’s a cute story with a good lesson.

This book was provided to me by Mascot Books in exchange for my honest review.
