What I Loved:
The concept of reincarnation and remembering your previous lives was so captivating! I loved the way Camille Funk wrote this story. She focused on the first life of the main character and the 7th life, or the current life. The story was being told at the same pace for each life, switching between the two lives every other chapter. This writing style allowed the story to be revealed to the reader expertly. I LOVED it and I cannot wait until the next book comes out!
How I Felt:
I was so absorbed in this story. The characters were written with such detail, I really felt like I knew them, but I also had mistrust for so many of them! This is a mystery, as the main character is murdered in each life, and I kept pointing a finger at a different character at every turn in the book’s road. The ONLY downside of this book was that it is a series, so I have to WAIT for the next book now!
Content Warnings:
Some sexual scenes without explicit details. Some swearing.
To Read or Not To Read:
Readers that enjoy mystery, romance, YA, and a bit of fantasy would really enjoy this book!

I’ve never met anyone who remembers their birth, but I remember mine. I dream about it all the time. Why? Because today, October 10, 1997, will be the seventh time it’s happened.
The Return by Camille Funk
Eleanor is living her 7th life. She remembers each past life from birth to death, which is after her 17th birthday each lifetime. She just doesn’t know who murders her. . .
Each lifetime is surrounded by the same souls as the previous, just different bodies and names, and unlike Eleanor, they don’t remember. Eleanor has tried so many different ways to break this cycle, but she doesn’t know why it is happening, and she has not been able to change the ending in any life.
In her first life, on her 17th birthday, she meets Levi and they fall madly in love. Life has other plans for them though, causing problem after problem and then she is murdered and she starts life number two.
In this 7th life, we pick up the story just as she is approaching her 17th birthday. Eleanor narrates her 7th life, gives us background on each of the people that follow her from life to life, and reveals things to us only when she is ready, making the story so mystifying. She also narrates her first life, where we get to experience everything that happened to her for the first time. Between the two stories, some mysteries are solved for Eleanor, but is it enough for her to stop this cycle and live, happily ever after with Levi?
