What I Loved:
Kyren the main character was so lovable. He goes through his changes on the path to redemption and I just loved watching that happen.
How I Felt:
Joanna White has done an amazing job of creating a beautiful story that has so many different emotions built in.
It is full of love and heartache, loss and redemption, and sacrifice and betrayal. I was captivated by her writing and her story.
My heart just broke for Kyren the moment the story starts. Cast down from his station as a prince to a lowly slave by his own family. Forced to live and work for them while they treat him like dirt. It was so frustrating and I felt for him.
The book is fairly short and is an easy read with a great story. I would like to see some grammatical errors corrected, but other than that, this is a solid book with an interesting plot!
To Read or Not To Read:
If you enjoy the magical part of fantasy, this is a book you should check out! It’s filled with magical battles and will have you fully immersed in the story!

Kyren was once a prince, but has been cast down to the bottom as a slave. His father captures his wife and family, forcing Kyren to help gather the remaining Magi for a fight to the death in the arena. Kyren will do whatever he can to save his family and he agrees to King Vaxon’s terms.
Can Kyren keep his promise to the King as he begins to see the high body count from his actions? Will he do anything to save his family, even at the cost of his own life?
