Be a Superhero in the Kitchen by Donna Glass – A Children’s Cookbook Review

Rating: 4 out of 5.

What I Loved:

My daughter is obsessed with cooking. She has her kitchen accessory bucket and her aprons. She loves to cook and bake. So, when we were given the opportunity to review Be a Superhero in the Kitchen by Donna Glass, we were so excited! This book is a perfect kid’s cookbook. It has kid-friendly recipes that are easy for a child to make and they are delicious!

How I Felt:

The Recipes: There is a great variety of recipes for a child to choose from. There are entrees, side dishes, desserts, and a beverage. The names of these are adorable and connect the title of the book with the recipes. Here are a few: Bam! Beef Stew, Mega Mac and Cheese, and Crime Fighter’s Cookie Fluff.

The Illustrations were a lot of fun. They are bright and colorful and show a child and parent in the kitchen making the recipe featured on that page. I would have liked to see a better image of the food being made. Some pages had a great illustration that was very easy for my daughter to understand, while others were not very easy to see. I had to explain what the food would be for those items.

Our Experience:

So my daughter went through the Be a Superhero in the Kitchen as soon as we received it to identify the recipes she wanted to make first. She picked the Colossal Bacon and Bean Sidekick, the Amazing Pudding Parfaits, and Crime Fighter’s Cookie Fluff.

We have made two of the three recipes now and I found that the ingredient lists are parent and budget-friendly. The ingredients are easy to come by and I found that we already had a lot of the ingredients in our cabinets! The instructions were easy to follow for my daughter and she had so much fun making the food.

Finally, and most importantly, it was Delicious!

Overall, Be a Superhero in the Kitchen is a great way to introduce little ones to a cooking book. With colorful artwork and easy, kid-friendly recipes, it’s perfect for your little chef!

To Read or Not To Read:

I would recommend Be a Superhero in the Kitchen for any child that enjoys cooking, or wants to try it out!
