What if you had the ability to magically make your sibling disappear? Jordy gets this opportunity thanks to a magic genie, and he couldn’t be happier…until things start to go a bit wrong.
I really liked this book. It has a great message about the importance of family, and it’s an exciting story for children to read! Jordy was a character that I’m sure every brother or sister can relate to. Siblings annoy each other, it is bound to happen. In our house, it happens approximately 1,323,754 times per day, so I know that both of my kids were intrigued by the idea of simply making their sibling disappear for a bit.

I thought this story was set up really well. I liked that we see why Jordy gets frustrated, I know my kids related to that. Then, he gets this opportunity from a magic man. A wand that can make his sister disappear! All he has to say is “Abracadabra Whoopsie”, and she will be gone! The idea is obviously quite enticing to little ones, and my kids were intrigued!
The conclusion of this story is quite heart-warming, and makes you reflect on the things you love about your own family, and how that love overpowers all the little frustrating things. It is great!
To Read or Not To Read:
I would recommend Abracadabra Whoopsie for children in preschool to middle-grade elementary. Children with siblings and a sense of humor will enjoy this!
