Mickey on the Move is a story that features a young boy with cochlear implants starting at a new school. I thought this was an awesome story to introduce children to our differences and celebrate them.
I loved the Mickey teaches us about difficulties that he’s already figured out how to overcome, but we also get to experience some with him. It was a nice balance throughout the story.
I thought that this was a good story with a wonderful main character that children will connect with. I loved the support provided by Mickey’s mother, friends, and teachers. What a wonderful support system!
To Read or Not To Read:
I would recommend Mickey on the Move for all children. It provides an inclusive message and a wonderful view of a strong support system for children.
Where to Find This Book:
In this bighearted book, the real story of a young boy with deafness in his ears is aided by his mother and teachers in navigating new school experiences. Mickey is just like everyone else, except he wears cochlear implants and has to do things just a little differently than most. This charming tale reminds us that we can all find happiness if we lean on and support each other.
