Rating: 5 out of 5.

This was an absolutely fantastic audio thriller! If you enjoy audio that really brings you into the story, you need to check this one out!

The story is told through Charlie’s viewpoint. At 17, she has plans to head out of her small town and off to college on a scholarship. Charlie works in a local sandwich shop, and when the owner is murdered, Charlie seems to know more than she’s willing to share with the police.

Charlie is autistic, so there are some things that others do that she doesn’t quite connect with, and I really enjoyed her thoughts on people’s facial expressions and body language as she tells the story. As she relives what happened and works through the mystery, we get the chance to learn so many secrets. The story had fantastic twists and turns that really kept me guessing. There were a few twists that I thought I might have figured out, but it was really fun to watch them play out.

I want to talk about the audio a bit. I listen to a ton of audio, but this is the first one that felt like a movie at times. It was such an interesting way to bring the book to life. Not all scenes, but quite a few were played with different actors for each character and outside sounds were introduced. When they were by a roadside, there’s some car noise in the background, all those little additional details made the story feel like an immersive experience.

I would highly recommend this audio book for any readers that enjoy a murder mystery!
