This story was so emotional for me. I feel like it really highlights the struggles to get support for mental health. I felt so invested in these characters, and I couldn’t stop reading.
Edna’s father passed away, and she’s really been struggling. She decides to put a hit out on herself in a Craigslist ad. Joe responds to Edna’s ad, and we are taken on an emotional story that jumps between the two characters’ POVs.
I thought this was such an interesting and original story. The alternating POVs between Edna and Joe really gives the reader an understanding of each of their histories and struggles, as well as their emotional states. The support systems in place for both Joe and Edna are just not enough, and while we see supporting characters trying, there are so many issues, and your heart just breaks for them.
The ending wasn’t quite interesting, and I think many readers will enjoy the thought-provoking final pages. I would recommend this one for readers that enjoy a contemporary read with an emotional storyline and relatable characters.
