playing – She Just Loves Books

My Thoughts:

What I Loved: Miku, our main character, speaks directly to the child, asking them to play a game of hide and seek with them. I loved that she would have them close their eyes and count to ten. Then you turned the page, and she was hidden somewhere. That interaction was adorable, and my daughter loved it.

How I Felt: My daughter would have loved a few more hide and seek pages. There were not very many, and just as she was discovering how to find Miku, the game was over. The hide and seek, overall was a lot of fun. Once we figured out where she was hiding, my daughter was so excited to turn the page and see if she was right. The illustrations in this book were a bit disappointing. They were not well-developed. There is one scene where Miku is hiding under a rug and it looks like just her head is under there and nothing else. I would have liked to have seen a bit more work put into the illustrations because this book relied so heavily on us studying the images. Overall though, this was a fun interactive book for a child.

To Read or Not To Read: This is worth picking up for a child that enjoys hide and seek. The interaction in the book makes the game a lot of fun.

Miku loves to play hide and seek and she is inviting the child reading the book to play along with her. She hides in a few rooms in her house and has the child find her.
