From Bad to Cursed by Lana Harper

Book Genre Tag "Romance": A couple kissing

Rating: 4 out of 5.

From Bad to Cursed is the second book in the witchy romance series The Witches of Thistle Grove. I read and enjoyed the first book in this series, and I was excited to see the second one come out!

This story was just as good (if not a bit better) than book 1! I thought the situations were crazy and fun and made me unable to put the story down. I really love this secretly magical town and the families that live there.

A Letter to Three Witches by Elizabeth Bass

Book Genre Block - "General Fiction" Person holding book

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This was a super fun story of magic, but while it’s categorized as a rom-com, I really think this one almost falls into a cozy mystery! While there are quite a few relationships that are followed, I didn’t feel like those were truly the main story. We are really trying to figure out what the main character’s adopted sister is up to.

Gwen comes from a long line of witches, but they aren’t allowed to practice magic. Gwen’s great-great-grandfather accidently started the Dustbowl after casting a spell, and the Grand Council of Witches doled out a punishment for him and his descendants for years and years. Gwen and her parents follow the rules set by the council, but Tannith, Gwen’s adopted sister, maybe not so much. When Tannith sends a letter to Gwen and her two cousins stating that she’s put a magical spell on one of their significant others, the three cousins work together to try to figure out which special someone Tannith is trying to take.

Witches. Romance. Magical Secrets. Competition.

This book had all the things that I love in a magical book! When Emmy returns to her childhood town for a magical tournament, her plan is to get in, lay low, and get out. After a bad break up years ago, she chose to leave town and allow her magical powers to fade. Coming back home, she reconnects with two women who also had a bad experience with this guy. The three of them decide to join forces and get revenge. Mixed into this story of revenge is a magical tournament that Emmy must host, and three people from the other main families of the town must participate in.

Book cover cat in kitchen with boiling magical pots

A mixture of witchy magic and murder mystery? Yes, please! This is the first book in a new series, Kitchen Witch Mysteries, and I thought it was so much fun!

Mia has just moved back to her grandmother’s town where people know that there is magic, creating an open and inviting environment, for the most part. At her first job in the new town, someone is murdered and she becomes not only a suspect but also next on the killer’s hit list!

Witches and an evil curse? Sign. Me. Up.

I was so excited to finally get the chance to read this book, and I was not disappointed at all! I found it easy to be an easy, quick read because I couldn’t stop reading!

Penny lives on an island off the shore of Sparrow, a town cursed by three sister witches for over 200 years. Each summer the sisters take possession of three girls and spend the summer drowning boys in the water surrounding the town. As society tends to do, people get weirdly obsessed with this tragic event that takes place every summer. One of the new visitors is Bo, a teenager who randomly ended up in the town because it was the end of the bus line. He and Penny meet at the annual drinking-on-the-beach-waiting-for-the-witches-to-arrive party. Penny ends up bringing Bo back to her island to give him a place to sleep. So begins Penny’s summer of trying to protect this boy she’s falling for from being carried out to sea by a witch.

Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I loved, loved, loved this book! This is my first book by Kerri Maniscalco, and now I have to go back and read her other ones!

Twins Emilia and Vittoria are witches, and they have grown up with the knowledge that there are Wicked princes of Hell that threaten their lives. They must always wear their special necklaces that help guard them and continue to use protective magic. Then one night, Vittoria is brutally murdered with her heart ripped out of her chest. Emilia discovers Vittoria and vows vengeance, even if it means using dark magic, something her grandmother has spent her entire life warning the twins about. Her use of dark magic goes a bit wrong when she summons, not a demon to assist her, but one of the very Princes of Hell she has worked to avoid her entire life. The two are immediate enemies, and yet they both seem to want the same thing; to find Vittoria’s murderer.
